The Focus Passage:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
The Focus Passage
Now that you’ve identified one thing that scares you, why does it scare you?
Take a 3×5 note card, and write the focus passage on one side and the reference on the other side. Consistently spend a few minutes during your morning routine each day this week reciting the passage. In addition, review the previous Focus Passages. By the end of the week, you should be able to say them all from memory.
A little review each day will go a long way. Calling Bible verses to mind will give you the courage to act.
A large elephant can be held in place by a simple chain and a stake in the ground because when the elephant is young, it lacks the power to pull the chain out of the ground. That same chain can keep the full-grown adult elephant in place because after wearing the chain for the entire time it was maturing, the chain is no longer around the elephant’s ankle—it’s around its mind.
What are some “chains” that you currently have around your mind that are keeping you from thriving in your life, work, faith, and relationships?
Write them down, and pray over them. Next to each one, write down something you will do (or depend on God to do) to break each particular chain.
We are told to love God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength. How are you doing in the 4 areas this week? Let’s take a little test using the Warrior Wheel in your Warrior 40 Planner:
32-40—You’re doing great!
24-31—Not great, so look for ways to improve at least one of the areas today.
16-23—You need to find someone to hang out with and talk with today.
0-16—Yikes! You need help today, so make an appointment to meet with your coach, therapist, counselor, mentor, or pastor ASAP!
